D’après le roman éponyme. Réalisé par Claude Chabrol, qui en a aussi assuré le scénario. Produit par MK2 Productions SA, C.E.D. Productions, FR3 Films Production, Canal+. Sortie en février 1992. Avec : Marie Trintignant (Betty), Stéphane Audran (Laure), Jean-François Garreaud (Mario), Yves Lamprecht (Guy Etamble), Christiane Minazzoli (Mme Etamble), Pierre Vernier (le docteur).
