• For the 90th anniversary of his birth, the Chief Inspector shows us his memory book. We propose a fortnight column to commemorate this milestone event of this year 2019. 

Malgré ce que mon ami Simenon a raconté, je ne suis pas né d'un seul coup dans Pietr le Letton, alors qu'il ingurgitait des petits verres de genièvre à Delfzijl… En réalité, il avait déjà raconté mes aventures dans quatre romans précédents. C'est pourquoi j'ai tenu à commencer mon album par les images de ces romans. 

Malgrado quello che il mio amico Simenon ha raccontato, non sono nato in un sol colpo in Pietr il Lettone, quando ingurgitava dei bicchierini di ginepro a Delfzijl… In realtà, aveva già raccontato le mie avventure in quattro romanzi precedenti. E’ per questo che ho tenuto ad iniziare il mio album con le immagini di questi romanzi. 

Despite what my friend Simenon told, I was not born at once in Peter the Latvian, when he was swallowing small glasses of gin at Delfzijl… In reality he had already told my adventures in four preceding novels. That's why I wanted to start my album with pictures of these novels.
