Maigret vu par les acteurs et les réalisateurs 

En 1958 sort le premier film de la trilogie avec Jean Gabin, Maigret tend un piège. Dans le dossier de presse qui paraît à cette occasion, une interview du réalisateur, Jean Delannoy, est proposée, dans laquelle il évoque le personnage. "Maigret m'intéresse parce qu'il n'est pas un vainqueur absolu, pas un héros pittoresque, il est un homme. Il a une femme que nous connaissons qui a ses manies et son charme; nous savons où il habite, nous connaissons son appartement avec son caractère et même ses côtés ridicules. Nous savons que Maigret s'enrhume facilement et comment il se soigne. Nous ne connaissons pas seulement ses habitudes, son penchant pour un petit verre, ses mots familiers, mais aussi ses problèmes. Nous savons qu'il éprouve pour certains de ses clients une sorte de sympathie, que d'autres affaires le troublent jusqu'à le rendre malade. […] Faire vivre ce personnage, c'est une aventure passionnante pour un metteur en scène."

Nel 1958 esce il primo film della trilogia con Jean Gabin, Maigret tend un piège. Nella cartella stampa prepaprata per l’occasione, compare un’intervista al regista Jean Delannoy, in cui evoca il personaggio: «Maigret mi interessa perché non é un vincitore assoluto, non un eroe pittoresco, lui è un uomo. Ha una moglie che conosciamo, le sue manie e il suo fascino; sappiamo dove abita, conosciamo il suo appartamento con il suo carattere e addirittura i suoi lati ridicoli. Sappiamo che Maigret s’influenza facilmente e in che modo si cura. Non conosciamo soltanto le sue abitudini, la sua propensione per un «bicchierino», le sue parole familiari, ma anche i suoi problemi. Sappiamo che per certi suoi «clienti» prova una certa simpatia, che certi casi lo turbano fino al punto di farlo ammalare. […] Far vivere questo personaggio è un’avventura appassionante per un regista.»

In 1958 Maigret tend un piège (Maigret Sets a Trap) was released. It was the first film of the trilogy with Jean Gabin. In the press kit that was published on this occasion, there was an interview with director Jean Delannoy, in which he evoked the character. 

"Maigret interests me because he is not an absolute winner, not a picturesque hero, he is a man. He has a wife we know who has her manias and her charm; we know where he lives, we know his apartment with its character and even its ridiculous sides. We know that Maigret catches cold easily and how he heals himself. We know not only his habits, his penchant for drinking, his familiar words, but also his problems. We know that he feels a kind of sympathy for some of his clients, that other cases trouble him till he gets ill. […] To make this character alive is an exciting adventure for a director."
