SIMENON SIMENON.

(Maigret viaggia)

SIMENON SIMENON. MAIGRET'S TRIFECTA
A choice of three novels of the saga, on a particular theme

Three investigations in luxury hotels
Il Maigret walks his heavy silhouette in concierge lodges, in craftsmen workshops or in neighbourhood stores, he also happens to attend other social spheres. Besides the stately houses of aristocracy and upper classes, you can sometimes see him investigating in luxury hotels. In fact it's in one of these that a large part of the plot of the first novel in the saga takes place, and we'll see him there again in the first novel of the Gallimard period.
"The Majestic didn't digest him. He persisted in making a big and motionless black spot among gilding, lights, coming and going of evening dresses, fur coats, perfumed and sparkling silhouettes." (Peter the Lett)
"Maigret, who had kept his hat on his head, was going back and forth, sometimes stopping behind a cook who was making a sauce, as if it interested him a lot, then you could see him at the washing dishes corner, or his face pressed to the windows of the valets' room." (The Cellars of the Majestic)
"he suddenly found himself backstage. He had pushed the door […] and he found another staircase, narrower, without carpet. Walls weren't so white anymore. Through an open door you could see a closet cluttered with brooms and a big pile of dirty laundry in the middle." (Maigret and the Millionaires)

  2. Giusto !
